Found Object: "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared"

An example of the kind of short film I absolutely love, but will most likely never attempt to make on my own. I hope it goes without saying, but watch this until the end.

Camp/Derby Day

Heading into Week 2 of the summer film camp I've been helping out with. Also, tonight I start work on a second promo video for The Windy City Rollers (this time for the Travel Season). I'm still pretty pleased with the Home Season video, but hoping to try a few new/cooler things this second time around.

Found Object: "Staring Out The Window"

I read, watch, and listen to a lot of stuff on the internet, some of which goes far beyond passing fancy and into "I wish I had thought of that first" territory. I'd like to begin sharing some of that stuff in earnest (like how I've adopted a Pinterest page for images that fall into the same category), rather than just blanketing my Facebook or Twitter page. I'll flag things like this with the heading "Found Object," so that it's clear these are things I did not have the pleasure of making/working on myself.

First up is a music video for a band I don't know, which uses a very simple effect that managed to completely and utterly mesmerize me.

There are a couple pictures from my visit to Detroit that I've placed in my photojournal, which I had previously forgotten to put anywhere.

This one was taken on the bus trip from Chicago.

New Work: "July 4th In Pilsen (2011)"

This latest microshort is essentially just shots set to music for 90 seconds, so no plot or punchline or anything. The 4th is easily my favorite holiday in Chicago, and mostly because I discovered a few years ago how amazing Pilsen can be that night of the year.

I didn't start filming until almost midnight, so the vast majority of fireworks were over by the time this video starts. Even still, the skyline was peppered with explosions in almost every direction (not to mention the streets and sidewalks...), and they continued until almost two days later.

New Work: Microshort 003 - "Table 36"

This was filmed a few months ago at The Atwood Cafe, and now finally finished. This may or may not become a series of shorts inspired by all the terrible kinds of customers I've seen while waiting tables. In this episode, my pal Will Allan plays what I call "The Stonewall."

Of course, it wouldn't have been possible without the help of Logan and Laura from 20k films.

2011, a set on Flickr.

I created a new set on Flickr (which hopefully I can get reflected as a new set on this site) for an ongoing selection of pictures from 2011.

The plan is to make a new set for each year, because I find that I take pictures far more often when I know where they're headed.
